Cupcakes by Sonja

Cupcake Galore! =)

We've been reading a lot about Cupcakes by Sonja from Facebook posts and blogs so we were convinced to try it! We haven't toured Bonifacio Global City yet so this is also a chance to do so. We took the MRT to Ayala and rode the Fort bus to Market! Market! and just walked from there to Serendra. Our eyes lit up when we finally saw this small but cute store! :)

We grew up eating cupcakes, the ones bought from supermarkets. The ones offered by Sonja's are more creative, fun-looking, and great tasting! Can't wait to try them all! =)

At Sonja's cupcakes

Cupcakes by Sonja was opened in September 8, 2006 as the first bakeshop in Manila to specialize exclusively in cupcakes. - from http://cupcakesbysonja.com

Welcome! ^_^

Cupcakes by Sonja is just a quaint store at Serendra but is definitely worth trying! Outside are simple, white metal chairs, good for having coffee and cupcakes on a cool day. On the window are displays of cupcakes -- makes you wanna dig in! =p

Ready for some sweets!

The place feels like a dream! There were red-striped walls, checkered floors, floral stools by the window and a glass window where you can watch them make the most-raved about cupcakes!

Cute and Yummy!

How to care for your cupcakes

THE MENU

Cupcakes, Cookies, Coffee

They offer a variety of cupcake flavors -- from non-refrigerated to refrigerated cupcakes. They also have cookies, and bars as well as different beverages: lattes, hot or cold, milkshakes, iced tea, lemonade and coffee. They now offer custom made cakes as well as mini cupcakes, perfect for parties and other celebrations!

Tiny cakes :)

THE FOOD

On our table

We chose one of their bestsellers which is the red velvet and a cupcake that caught our eye with its bright green color and a big dollop of cream! We had the hazelnut iced latte for our drinks.

Red Velvet Vixen (70php)

Red Velvet Vixen. Traditional Southern Red Velvet cupcake made with Belgian cocoa and topped with luscious cream cheese ring

This looked simple but tasted really great! The bright red cake was soft and sweet, and paired with the cream cheese topping -- a perfect combo! The texture was great -- creamy, full, not at all airy and of course, it tasted awesome! =p

Pistachio Berries n' Cream (85php)

Pistachio Berries n' Cream. Brown butter pistachio cupcake topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream icing.

We're glad to have picked this one! It was truly a hit! You could really taste the pistachio, the fresh berries weren't overpowering and the whipped cream had just the right sweetness! It was a perfect balance of flavor -- nutty, sweet, tangy -- and texture -- soft, smooth and creamy -- in one bite!

Hazelnut Iced Latte (115php)

Hazelnut Iced Latte. We wanted to have milkshakes but unfortunately, they weren't available so we settled with their hazelnut iced latte which was good, refreshing and rich! Its aroma was great, and the flavor -- earthy and nutty, a great drink to start off the day!

DINING EXPERIENCE

Cupcake addicts! :p

We really enjoyed our short but sweet time here at Cupcakes by Sonja. The place was small but fun, filled with color and the display of a myriad of cupcakes was just mouth-watering! It was hard choosing one since everything looked so good and inviting!

If you happen to be at BGC, and if you love cupcakes, drop by Cupcakes by Sonja and you'll definitely love it! ^_^
